As an exciting new brand in the world of ‘Insurtech’, Peppercorn is seeking a talented and innovative individual to join us as a Data Engineer.

As a Peppercorn Data Engineer, you’ll work with large quantities of data and apply your problem-solving skills to develop and maintain data pipelines, ensuring that data is available and accessible to the rest of the team. From your data insights, you’ll be feeding insight back into the wider business to help drive business decisions. You’ll work on cutting-edge technologies, and collaborate with other engineers to help drive better decisions across the business.

Overview of responsibilities
Develop Peppercorn's MI platform through the integration of new data sources, which may require building API connectivity or SFTP jobs depending on the source.
Work with Peppercorn's suppliers and internal finance team to automate all financial reconciliation processes.
Use conversational data to produce insights into customer behaviours and improve the customer experience whilst building industry-leading fraud detection.
Secure and make configurable Peppercorn's MI platform, which is part of its B2B offering.
Collaborate with the wider team to develop core analytics and reporting capability that is accessible to all team members.
Ensure that the insights are based on inclusive data and are sensitive to diversity and inclusion issues.
About You
To be able to do well in this role, we expect that you’ll have:
A strong understanding of SQL, database management and data modelling is crucial to this role.
Proficient in Python with experience in developing data pipelines and automation scripts.
Experience working with cloud-based systems and technologies ideally but not essentially AWS.
Hands-on experience with Snowflake as a cloud-based data warehouse platform.
Experience using DBT (data build tool) for managing data transformations and version control.
Proficient in using data visualisation and reporting tools e.g. Looker.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, able to adapt your style to suit the audience.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as the work dictates, seeking to understand the work of other teams in the business to promote a trusting and creative working environment.
An openness to receiving feedback on your performance, approach and development and use this to support your continuous professional development.

Outstanding benefits package
Salary: £50K-80K per annum based on 37.5 hours per week. We welcome conversations with applicants on salary as we’ll negotiate based on demonstrable experience.
Flexible holidays: 30 days + bank holidays (which don’t have to be taken on the bank holidays) + your birthday off.
Location: Fully remote with flexible working hours option. We arrange away days throughout the year when the whole Peppercorn team meets up - We pay for your travel and any overnight stays.
